Kirby blames Trump for Iran’s confidence amid Biden’s foreign policy scrutiny

In response to Iran’s direct attacks against Israel, White House national security communications secretary John Kirby blamed the former president Trump for allegedly giving Iran more confidence.

Kirby spoke with Shannon Bream on “Fox News Sunday” about the most recent development in the Middle East during the Biden presidency. With the assistance of neighbors and allies including the United States, Israel successfully repelled a fierce onslaught consisting of over 300 drones and missiles fired at it from Iran on Saturday, defeating 99% of the strike.

Israel has allegedly received advice from the Biden administration not to launch a retaliatory strike against Iran.

“It’s astonishing how weak we have become under the Biden administration. You understand that it would not have occurred if we had been in government,” Trump stated on Saturday.

Bream questioned Kirby concerning the Biden administration’s stance on allowing sanctions waivers and unfreezing assets in relation to Iran. The Biden administration renewed a sanctions waiver last month, enabling Iraq to buy oil from Iran and therefore giving the terrorist state access to $10 billion. At the time, Kirby had declared that the funds would not be given to its “mullahs.”

“Maybe this administration treated Iran with more savagery? Did it detect a gap?” Bream enquired.

“It’s hard to take a look at what President Biden has done and say that we have somehow gone soft on Iran,” Kirby replied. “The previous government made the decision to withdraw us from the Iran agreement. And compared to before Mr. Trump was elected, Iran is now far closer to having the ability to produce nuclear weapons.”

Biden told reporters on Friday that he had a “don’t” warning for the Islamic Republic in case they decided to launch an attack on Israel over the weekend.

After the Iranian government turned down his plea, Republican senators blasted Biden for what they perceived as his ongoing lack of resolve on deterrence.

“So much for President Biden’s “Don’t” warnings to criminals working as true deterrents. In an X post on Saturday, Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., stated, “Every time he says ‘Don’t,’ they do.”

Iran was in dire straits under President Trump. “Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., said that President Biden gave them billions of dollars and then foolishly advised them not to.” “A foreign policy is not a “don’t.” Iran’s assault on Israel has been financed by Joe Biden’s policies.

Bream pressed Kirby once more about the White House’s leniency towards Iran, and he once more pointed the finger at Trump’s foreign policy.

“Is it not fair to say, though, that there have been moves by this administration that have opened up cash and other opportunities for them, which we know are fungible in ways that are not helping the Iranian people but are benefiting the elites and people there who chant ‘Death to America?,'” asked Bream.

Kirby retorted, “The additional funds that are now available to Iran as a result of the Trump administration’s sanctions relief programme are limited to the purchase of humanitarian goods.” It is not received by the regime. And the notion that as a result, the dictatorship felt in some way liberated to back these proxies. They have been supporting these proxies for years, so it just doesn’t make sense.”

He added that the funds were not “fungible.”

Kirby remarked, “They physically can’t do that. They can’t.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated days before the strike that his nation’s armed forces had “been preparing for the possibility of a direct attack from Iran.”

Biden stated following the assault, “Israel demonstrated a remarkable capacity to defend against and defeat even unprecedented attacks, sending a clear message to its foes that they cannot effectively threaten the security of Israel.”
