She said that investing in women is both morally and financially necessary since everyone gains when women are given the opportunity to realise their full potential.

In addition, Mrs. Mahama commended her husband John Mahama and the National Democratic Party (NDC) for choosing Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, a woman, to be their running partner in the general elections of 2024.

She promised to keep funding underprivileged kids, orphans, mothers, and medical facilities around the country through the Lordina Foundation.

She also emphasised how the zero maternal mortality rate in 2023 was made possible by the Lordina Foundation Maternity and Children’s Ward, which she built at the Bole District Hospital.

Every year on March 8, the world celebrates International Women’s Day.

In the women’s rights movement, this day serves as a focal point, drawing attention to topics including gender equality, the right to an abortion, and violence and abuse against women.

‘Invest in women to accelerate development’ has been selected as the topic for International Women’s Day in 2024.
