Manchester United’s left-back Luke Shaw may be sidelined for the rest of the season due to a significant hamstring injury.
The England international was forced off the field just before half-time in Sunday’s 2-1 Premier League victory against Luton.
Shaw, who is 28 years old, faces a race against time to recover and prove his fitness for the England squad ahead of Euro 2024.

This injury occurred just a week after he was unable to play the second half of United’s win against Aston Villa.
Manager Erik ten Hag expressed concern about Shaw’s injury, stating that “it did not look great” after the Luton game.
Luke Shaw’s Injury Update
“Luke Shaw has sustained a muscle injury and will be out for an extended period,” said United in a statement on Wednesday.
“Further assessment is still needed to determine the severity but we expect him to be absent for a few months.”
The injury casts doubt on Shaw’s spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming Euros in Germany.
Additionally, Manchester United now find themselves without a recognized left-back, with manager Erik ten Hag having terminated Sergio Reguilon’s loan from Tottenham in January, believing Shaw and Tyrell Malacia were close to returning from injury.
However, Malacia, also a Dutchman, has yet to make an appearance this season, leaving Victor Lindelof as the likely choice for the position in Saturday’s home game against Fulham.
With Shaw facing a potential season-ending injury and having only recently returned to action after a month-long absence, Manchester United are now in need of cover at left-back, with Malacia sidelined and Reguilon’s loan terminated.
