Mohammed Salisu makes injury return, a boost for Black Stars ahead of AFCON

Following months of injury, Ghanaian international Mohammed Salisu has made an impressive comeback to the pitch. He was named in the AS Monaco squad for Friday’s Ligue 1 matchup against Paris St. Germain.

With the team’s recent struggles with multiple injuries, this is seen as a major boost for the Black Stars as they get ready for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Salisu, a former defender for Southampton, has been out for several months due to injury, but he is healthy enough to play for Monaco against PSG in Ligue 1.

After twelve games, Monaco is currently three points behind leaders PSG in Ligue 1.

For Ghana, which has struggled with injuries in the run-up to the 2023 AFCON, the defender’s return is especially important. Salisu, who missed all of Ghana’s games in 2023, returns to the team at a pivotal moment.

Other injured players are also recovering, including Daniel Amartey and Alexander Djiku, who are both based in Turkey.

In addition, Tariq Lamptey has recovered and is returning to training with Brighton and Hove Albion, which adds more defensive options to Ghana’s lineup and gives optimism for a stronger defence that has struggled against opponents recently.
