The National Identification Authority (NIA) has recently announced the expansion of its premium registration services for the Ghana Card to include five regional offices, effective from Monday, June 12, 2023.

The NIA conveyed this important information to the public through an official statement released on their website and shared across their social media platforms. The statement was signed by the acting Head of Corporate Affairs, Col. Peter Kwame Ghansah (Rtd).

The enhanced premium Ghana Card registration services are now accessible at the regional offices located in Volta, Bono, Bono East, Northern, and Western North regions.

These centers have been established to complement the existing Premium Centres at the NIA and CalBank Head Offices in Accra, as well as the ones in Ashanti, Eastern, and Western regions.

It’s crucial to note that the premium registration services are not provided free of charge. There are fees associated with various services. For the first-time registration and issuance of a Ghana Card, the cost is GH¢280. In case of a lost, missing, or damaged card, the fee for replacement is GH¢110. Furthermore, if there’s a need to update personal records that require the printing of a new card, the fee is GH¢110.

Apart from these services, the NIA has outlined additional procedures that incur fees. These include the change or correction of an applicant’s name, the change or correction of the order of an applicant’s name, the correction or addition of an applicant’s previous name or maiden name, the correction of an applicant’s date of birth, the change or correction of an applicant’s nationality, the correction of an applicant’s gender, and the change or correction of an applicant’s height.

Applicants requesting premium services should also note the following:

  1. The premium services will be based on an online booking system and a walk-in system.
  2. Payment of fees for all premium services must be made with either of the following:
    • CalBank Mobile Banking Platform with short code *771#; or
    • CalBank Online Mobile App.
    • Alternatively, payment for the above services may be made at any CalBank Branch.
  3. NIA will not accept cash payments for any of its services at the newly established Premium Centres.

Applicants must note that not every request for an update of personal record or card replacement can be handled on the same day. Review and approval of requests for the update of a personal record or card replacement may take longer than a day.
