Taylor Swift broke the MTV Video Music Awards record on Wednesday night, winning 30 awards in all.
Swift’s new milestone breaks Beyoncé’s previous record of 25 victories, making her the first artist to achieve such a feat. Swift also became the only artist to win the “Video of the Year” title five times.
During her acceptance speech for her latest win, Taylor Swift shared insights about directing the video and credited many of the people involved in the process.
She gave a special mention to Post Malone and “my boyfriend Travis Kelce,” who, according to Swift, was “cheering and woo-ing from across the studio where we were shooting [the video].”

Swift expressed her gratitude for his enthusiasm, noting, “I want to thank him for adding that to our shoot because I will always remember that.”
Swift’s speech also included a heartfelt message to her fans, whom she thanked for their unwavering support. “Thank you for making my life what it is, for making the Eras Tour what it’s become, and for making the ‘The Tortured Poet’s Department’ what it’s become,” she stated. She emphasized the crucial role her fans have played in her success.
Before leaving the stage, Swift used the chance to reaffirm a message she had shared on Instagram the night before, encouraging people to vote in the next election. “If you are 18, please register to vote,” she urged the VMAs audience. “It’s an important election.”

Swift, who led the nominations with 12, won some of the night’s most prestigious awards, including “Artist of the Year” and many honors for her work with Post Malone on “Fortnight.” The song won “Song of the Year,” “Song of the Summer,” and “Video of the Year,” among other awards. Remarkably, Swift is the only artist to win the “Video of the Year” title three years in a row.
Beyoncé, another big star of the night, was nominated for “Song of the Year” for her blockbuster single “Texas Hold ‘Em” from her country album, “Cowboy Carter.” Beyoncé’s “Texas” competed with Taylor Swift’s “Fortnight,” Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso,” Teddy Swims’ “Lose Control,” and Jack Harlow’s “Lovin on Me.”
