In a tragic incident from San Tan Valley, Arizona, an 18-year-old has been charged with the murder of his mother, Mary Collier, following a 911 call he made reporting her kidnapping just minutes after her body was discovered.
The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office revealed that jogger James Richey found Collier’s body in a farm field on October 30, 2024, and immediately alerted authorities.
Police identified the victim as 38-year-old Mary Collier and determined that she was likely a homicide victim.
Less than ten minutes after the jogger’s call, Collier’s son contacted 911, claiming his mother had been kidnapped. Officers soon linked both calls to the same woman.
Upon arrival at the family home, deputies found the son with self-inflicted wounds and he was transported to the hospital.
Following his release, he is expected to be booked into the Pinal County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.

The police have not disclosed a motive for the alleged homicide, though reports suggest it may have stemmed from an argument the night before.
Richey described the horrifying moment he discovered the body, initially mistaking it for a Halloween decoration before realizing it was a crime scene.
He reported finding a bloodied blade near the body, indicating a violent act.
Collier’s niece, Rebecca Hatch, expressed disbelief over the accusation against her cousin, stating that Mary was deeply loved and respected by her son.
She remembered her aunt as a passionate and selfless person, emphasizing the family’s shock and sorrow over this incomprehensible tragedy.
