After a recent heated interview in which he criticized the rap genre and proclaimed that Afrobeats is now the King of music genres in Nigeria, Wizkid is on the rise.

Born Ayodeji Balogun, the Nigerian superstar claimed rap music is dead and uninteresting and that’s why he doesn’t listen to it.

The multi-award-winning star, who recently spoke with 10 magazine, said the following:

“Afrobeats is the new pop. I sold two million copies in America off of one song! Even some American artists don’t have a diamond record. If I’m being honest, I don’t listen to any other genre of music anymore.

I don’t listen to rap – that shit is boring to me. It’s dead now, it’s tired. These guys do the same shit, rap on the same beats and the same flows.”

Meanwhile, Starboy recently made headlines of his own when he declared that he was sick of living the single life and wanted to marry soon instead.

The father of three took to Twitter to express his feelings, and further raised eyebrows by speculating about possibly wedding two women simultaneously.

“Been single for so long!😫gotta find me one or 2😎,”he wrote.
