Akuapem Poloo Jailed 90 days in prison

Ghanaian socialite, Rosemond Brown, popularly known as Akuapem Poloo, is to serve a 90-day jail term as court dismisses her appeal.

Akuapem Poloo on Monday, June 30 2020 took to her Instagram page where she posted a nude picture of herself fully naked in front of her half-naked 7-year old son and looked at each other as they held hands all in the name of celebrating her son’s seventh birthday.

The nude pic she posted has received huge criticism from both her followers and no-followers including some civil society organizations.

She was also invited by the Ghana Police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) for questioning and then they concluded that she has breached the Welfare Principle of the Child’s Act. And this action led to the actress deleting the nude picture she posted on her page.

She was later sentenced to spend 90-days in jail, which her lawyer filed for an appeal after pleading guilty to the charges of the publication of nude pics with son.

Update:

The plea has not gone well for the socialite as it has been dismissed by court.

On Wednesday, December 1, 202`1, the Accra High Court presided over by Justice Ruby Aryeetey dismissed the appeal filed by the actress, Rosemond Alade Brown to challenge her 90 days custodial sentence.

“This court will not interfere and the appeal is therefore dismissed,” Justice Aryee said.

This simply means that Akuapem Poloo will be serving the 90-jail term handed her by the circuit court.

The court has ordered that in the absence of Akuapem Poloo, her child should be given to any competent person in the family to take care of.
