The microphone that made headlines when American rapper Cardi B threw it at a fan during an incident in Las Vegas last month has been sold for an astonishing sum of nearly $100,000 on eBay.

Scott Fisher, the owner of The Wave Inc, an audio production company based in Las Vegas, was quick to express interest in the microphone. His company had been responsible for providing sound equipment to Drai’s Beachclub, the venue where the incident took place.

For nearly a decade, The Wave Inc had been the go-to provider of audio gear for Drai’s Beachclub, situated at Cromwell Hotel.

On July 29, Cardi B responded to a fan’s unprovoked act of throwing liquid at her by retaliating with the microphone in question.

The fan reported the incident to the police, but no charges have been filed against Cardi B, according to CBS News.

After retrieving the thrown microphone from the crowd at Cardi B’s concert, Fisher made the decision to auction it for a charitable cause. The proceeds from the sale of the Shure AD2 Axient Digital mic would benefit two charities – Friendship Circle Las Vegas and the Wounded Warrior Project.

Fisher confirmed the authenticity of the microphone by cross-referencing it with Cardi B’s earpiece and the labeling used during sound checks.

Fisher’s authentication process involved consulting Drai’s sound technician, confirming the labeling, and receiver details.

The microphone was listed on eBay along with a certification letter from Fisher and a custom display case donated by a company after learning about the sale.

Remarkably, the auction attracted over 120 participants and culminated in a final selling price of nearly $100,000.

Fisher was taken aback by the astounding outcome, especially considering the microphone’s regular retail value of approximately $1,000.

Initially hoping for a $5,000 sale, Fisher never anticipated the incredible national attention and media coverage the auction would garner.

This unexpected success has not only brought recognition to Fisher but has also made substantial contributions to the charities he chose to support.
