Lanez, wearing orange prison overalls and a black skull cap, listened as Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford delivered the sentence.

The judge denied the probation Lanez’s defense had sought, stating that Lanez’s actions had warranted a significant sentence due to the use of a gun and Megan Thee Stallion’s vulnerability.

The trial and subsequent sentencing have sparked discussions within the hip-hop community and beyond. The case shed light on Lanez’s philanthropic endeavors and the contrast between his public persona and the violent act he was convicted of committing.

Lanez’s defense team argued that his childhood trauma and mental health struggles played a role in the incident, while prosecutors contended that his actions were driven by a bruised ego.
