Just nine months later, Combs found himself entangled in another incident. While at a New York nightclub with his then-girlfriend, Jennifer Lopez, and rapper Shyne, gunfire erupted, resulting in injuries to three individuals, including a woman shot in the face.
Fleeing the scene in his Lincoln, Combs and Lopez were later stopped by the NYPD for a traffic violation. Subsequently, a firearm was discovered in their vehicle, leading to their arrest.
Although Lopez was released, Combs and Shyne faced multiple charges. While Combs was ultimately acquitted, Shyne was convicted on five counts, serving a 10-year sentence. Combs’ relationship with Lopez ended in 2001 after a two-year courtship.
Television personality Roger Mills took legal action against Combs in 2001, alleging assault, false imprisonment, and property damage. Mills claimed that Combs attacked him during an interview when questioned about his involvement in the death of Notorious B.I.G. Eventually, the court ruled in favor of Combs.
In 2007, Gerard Rechnitzer filed a lawsuit asserting that Combs assaulted him and shoved his girlfriend outside the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Combs settled the suit a year later, with the terms remaining undisclosed.
Fast forward to 2015, Combs faced arrest once more, this time charged with assault with a deadly weapon following an altercation involving a coach at his son’s college.
Allegedly, Combs swung a kettlebell at an assistant UCLA football coach after a confrontation regarding his eldest son, Justin, who is now 30 years old.
