The DMW boss explained that ensuring the safety of his fans and everyone else attending his ‘Timeless’ concert at the Tafawa Balewa Square on April 23 was the main reason for his visit.

Collaborating with the police force was a strategic move by his team to cater to the safety of all attendees, along with the host.

Davido expressed hope that other artistes would emulate this move, as it was the first time such collaboration had been done in this location. Images and videos from the visit showed the musician in a roundtable talk with Owohuna and some security personnel.

In a viral clip, Davido highlighted the importance of the visit, stating that many people were concerned about security. He explained that collaborating with the Lagos State police was a way to secure the fans who come to watch the show, ensuring they can enter and leave safely.

Davido also recognized that it was uncommon for artistes to visit the police command for such collaborations, but hopes his visit would serve as an inspiration for others.

The Afrobeats star acknowledged the possibility of things getting a bit rough, with some fans becoming over-excited and potentially disturbing others. However, with measures being put in place to ensure safety, attendees can look forward to an unforgettable experience at Davido’s ‘Timeless’ concert.

Speaking in the viral clip, Davido said: “People are really concerned about security and so that is why we are here to let people know that we are putting in measures, collaborating with Lagos State police to secure the fans that come to watch the show, to get in and leave safely.

“I also thought that it’s important for us to come because people don’t do this. Artistes wouldn’t come, maybe it’ll just be the organisers that’ll organise some police on the day of the show.

“But I feel after this, a lot of people will begin to visit the police command in collaboration to secure the environment.

“It could get a bit rough. Some fans may become over excited and disturb the other fans.”
