Due to accusations that they stole funds intended for the actor’s medical care, Nigerian police have detained the son and adopted daughter of well-known Nigerian comic actor John Okafor, often known as Mr. Ibu.

It is claimed that Jasmine Okekeagwu and Onyeabuchi Okafo stole “the actor’s phone and hacked into the banking details” before making off with 55 million naira (£47,800; $60,700).

The sum of money included donations made by fans and well-wishers for the actor’s medical care following a protracted sickness that he endured in the previous year.

Okafor had to have one of his legs amputated as a result of the sickness. According to his relatives, the Nollywood actor also had five medical procedures.

According to Mayegun Aminat, the spokesman for the police’s criminal investigation section, the authorities have found 50 million naira.

Ms. Aminat stated that the two suspects intended to flee to the United Kingdom.

According to local media, a Lagos judge released the two on a $56,000 bail while investigations are ongoing.

For the upcoming hearing in March, they are anticipated to appear in court.
