Missing Ohio Siblings, 8 and 9, Found in Remote Icelandic Village 3 Months After Disappearing

In a remarkable turn of events, two missing Ohio siblings, ages 8 and 9, were found safe in a remote village in Iceland earlier this month, three months after their disappearance.

The children had been reported missing to Canton, Ohio police by a family member on October 25.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, the children vanished after their mother, a 34-year-old woman, stopped taking her mental health medication.

The mother allegedly abandoned their apartment, and the children failed to show up at school, sparking concern.

Initial investigations traced the family to Denver, Colorado, and then to London, England.

Police continued their search and later tracked the woman and her children to the island of Jersey in the English Channel, more than 200 miles south of London.

From there, authorities discovered that the woman had taken the children to a remote fishing village in Iceland, a staggering 2,500 miles from Jersey.

Though the name of the village has not been revealed, local Icelandic authorities managed to locate the children at a motel in Reykjavik, Iceland’s capital.

The children were found safe and in good condition, and they have since been placed under the care of Icelandic social services while awaiting transfer to trusted family members.

The children’s mother has been hospitalized for treatment and will eventually be returned to the U.S. after her recovery.
