An unclaimed Florida lottery ticket worth $44 million awaiting the winner is set to expire in a few days

The Florida Lottery recently announced that someone bought a winning Quick Pick ticket on June 14 from Sunoco Express in Kissimmee, Florida.

The celestial alignment of numbers that led to this victory: 09 – 13 – 15 – 46 – 51 – 52.

The lucky winner has until December 11, which is next Monday, to claim the prize. If they miss this deadline, it’ll be too late to claim.

The Florida Lottery is urging anyone who bought a lottery ticket at that specific gas station to check if they’re the winner. Since it’s a substantial prize, the winner must validate the ticket in person at the Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.

While prizes up to $599 can be claimed at any retailer, those up to $250,000 require a visit to a district office. Anything exceeding that amount needs a trip to the Tallahassee headquarters, according to the lottery’s rules.

This isn’t the first time a major lottery win almost went unclaimed. In August 2022, a man in Michigan almost forgot about a ticket he bought, which turned out to be worth $390,000. Last month, another man in Michigan won over $400,000 in a lottery he didn’t know he entered.

Emily Irwin, who works for Wells Fargo and advises lottery winners, shared in October that many winners don’t realize they get little support or guidance.

Winners should seek advice on everything from whether to take the money as a lump sum or an annuity to learning how to say ‘no’ to family members looking to cash in on the windfall.
