The sad news reaching us is that renowned Nigerian musician Yemi Alade was recently robbed in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, and had her money and belongings taken from her.

Alade expressed her regret about how criminals went into her hotel room, searched through her belongings, and grabbed all the cash they could find in a post on her Instagram page.

On Instagram, the singer posted a video of herself and noted that the burglars had broken in not long after she had left her room.

“A few minutes after I left my room, some unknown people decided to go through my things and steal all the money they could find. Very good,” she posted on her page.

She recently visited Côte d’Ivoire for the Creative Africa Nexus Weekend (CANEX WKND), a three-day gathering of creatives from Africa and the Diaspora.

Yemi Alade noted that the hotel was investigating, looking through cameras, and doing other things, but she was aware that all the money had already been spent in response to worried well-wishers.
