In a recent development, US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has indicated that an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden could be on the horizon.
The revelation comes as Republicans continue their investigations into alleged business dealings involving the president and his family.
McCarthy’s statements highlight growing tensions within the GOP over potential impeachment proceedings.
The probes, led by Republicans, suggest that Biden family members received payments from foreign companies.
Furthermore, claims have surfaced that the Justice Department treated the Biden family differently during an investigation into Hunter Biden, as revealed by IRS whistleblowers.
The ongoing investigation has sparked internal disputes within the Republican party, leading to a decision to delay an immediate impeachment vote on a resolution proposed by Representative Lauren Boebert.

During an appearance on Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures,” McCarthy, a California Republican, was asked about the possibility of launching an impeachment inquiry once Congress reconvenes.
He stated, “So, if you look at all the information we have been able to gather so far, it is a natural step forward that you would have to go to an impeachment inquiry.”
McCarthy emphasized that an impeachment inquiry would provide Congress with significant legal power to access essential information.

In response, White House spokesperson Ian Sams dismissed McCarthy’s comments as a “crazy exercise” and questioned the basis for such an inquiry. Sams tweeted, “This crazy exercise is rooted not in facts & truth but partisan shamelessness.”
Despite this skepticism, McCarthy’s statements suggest that the GOP-led House is moving closer to considering an impeachment inquiry.
McCarthy has stated that the potential impeachment inquiry would be contingent upon the administration’s willingness to provide requested documents.
He explained that if the Biden administration withholds documents essential for review, the House would proceed with an impeachment inquiry upon returning to session.
The demand for documents includes bank and credit card statements related to the Biden family.
Aside from the Republican-led investigations, federal authorities are separately investigating Hunter Biden on charges related to taxes and firearms.
