Man Lands in Jail for Cursing Policemen in Kasoa With Antoa

A young man has been sentenced to jail by the Kasoa District Court for allegedly cursing police officers with Antoa, a well-known river deity, along with other river gods in the country.

The convict, identified as a driver, was acting as a trotro mate on the day of the incident when he encountered police personnel conducting a routine search of their belongings.

Sources report that during the search, the man’s belongings were forcefully emptied onto the ground. In response, he questioned the police officers about their actions, expressing his concern over why his belongings were treated differently from those of the other passengers in the vehicle.

Allegedly, the police officers did not respond to his concerns, which escalated his frustration. This led to an altercation, during which one officer reportedly slapped him from behind. Another officer joined in, resulting in the physical assault of the man.

In a heated moment, the frustrated man reportedly cursed the police officers with Antoa and other river gods. However, this act of cursing took an unexpected turn for the worse. The officers subsequently handcuffed him and transported him to the Kasoa police station.

After spending the night in police custody, the man was brought before the court the following morning. The presiding judge sentenced him to 12 months in jail for his actions.
