Following the recent visit of IMF staff members to Ghana, the Ministry of Finance will hold a joint news briefing with the International Monetary Fund and the Bank of Ghana.

The event is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m. in Accra, Ghana.

In order to perform a second review of Ghana’s IMF-supported plan and open the door for the third installment of the $3 billion bailout request, which consists of US$360 million, the IMF Mission team had already arrived in Ghana on April 1.

Following Ghana’s successful completion of the first review and acquisition of a second tranche of the bailout monies, the IMF team started reviewing the country’s 17th IMF plan on April 2.

After spending several weeks in the nation, the mission team evaluated Ghana’s performance in relation to the two-week programme objectives set forth by the Fund. They will closely examine structural improvements, fiscal management, and economic recovery strategies.

Important government figures were met by the IMF mission team, including Dr. Amin Adam, the minister of finance, Dr. Ernest Addison, the governor of the Bank of Ghana, and representatives of civil society organisations.

The government, through the Ministry of Finance, maintains its confidence that the nation will successfully complete the IMF programme review in order to receive the $360 million third tranche of the IMF bailout by the end of June of this year.

The government has not, however, finished talks for a debt swap of its external loans with its bilateral and commercial creditors.
