Nominations for the upcoming 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) has finally been released, showing the artistes who made it to the list, but many Ghanaian music lovers especially the youths left in shock as the list did not include Shatta Wale in it.
The interesting part is that Stonebwoy got nominations but Shatta did not, and this has caused a lot of mixed reactions as fans speak out their minds to the organisers of the awards scheme.
Mr Robert Klah, who is the Head of Communications at Charterhouse, the organizers of the upcoming 23rd editon of the VGMA’s has finally spoken in regards to Wale’s absence on the nominee list.

A quick one here, before we dive into that i will like to take you back a bit to what happened some years ago.
Stonebwoy vs Shatta Wale’s Fight
It would recalled that back in 2019, during the awards night an incident happened involving the two dancehall recording artiste, Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale which involved the pulling out of guns right on stage in the midst of attendees.
This issue later led to the board of VGMA placing a one year ban on the two artiste where they both did not make appearances on the 2022 edition of the awards but later in 2021 the board made a decision and then lifted the ban which means the two are now clear to participate after they made peace and put the past event behind them which we published here.
2022 VGMA Nominees
As i was saying above, the Head of Communications at Charterhouse, Mr Robert Klah explaining why Shatta Wale’s got ni slot in the 2022 vgma nominations said he showed no interest in the awards.
He added that unlike the Shatta Movement Empire boss, Wale, his colleague Stonebwoy did show interest in participating so they worked with him, he went on to explain how the award scheme go about its nominations adding that if the artiste does not show interest they can’t put him or her on since they have to contact them individually and have their consent before.
“The scheme is in such a way that you need to show interest in order to be part. Once you show interest, we will work with you. The interest can be in the form that you are filing or giving consent. So, Stonebwoy showed interest and we worked with him,” he told Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz.
“But, the most important thing is that we established that there is a clear interest which is translated as consent given which is the reason why we were able to put him on the scheme.”
Ghanaian Reggae / Dancehall recording artiste, Stonebwoy born with his legal name ‘Livingstone Etse Satekla’ grabbed four Nominations in the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards which includes the dancehall artiste of the year where he wi be battling with the likes of Larruso, Epixode, and Samini.

VGMA 2022 Nominees
The full list of Nominees For Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2022, was announced on Saturday, March 19th, and it started from 11 am through to 4 pm, with the nominees’ announcement show at 8 pm, which aired live on TV3 & on VGMA Social media pages.
