Megan Thee Stallion Finally Settles Legal Battle With Her Former Record Label

By Stermy 3 Min Read

After an arduous legal battle spanning more than three years, American rapper Megan Thee Stallion and her record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, have finally put an end to their war.

Megan’s feud with 1501 began over three years ago when she alleged that the company had hoodwinked her into signing an unjust record deal in 2018, one that fell far short of industry standards.

According to the rapper born with her legal name Megan Jovon Ruth Pete, it was only when she entered a new management deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation in 2019 that she enlisted the aid of “real lawyers” who revealed the deal’s inherent inequities.

The saga began in 2020 when Megan filed a lawsuit against the label, citing 1501’s preventing her quest to release music.

But last week, Megan hinted at a potential resolution, revealing during an Instagram live stream that she had severed ties with her label. She boldly declared that she was funding her projects out of her own pocket, embracing true independence.

“I have no label right now and we’re doing everything funded straight out of Megan Thee Stallion’s pocket so the budget is coming from me,” she said.

She continued adding that; “I’m so excited to be doing something for the first time independent since it was just me and my momma. It’s really just me until we sign to a new label. I don’t want to sign to a new label right now because I just want to do it myself.”
